Every Knee Shall Bow

Friday, March 7th, 2008

This is from Dawn, a follower of Christ. I thought it was an outstanding message, Pastor Bob

God tells us in the 10 commandments we should have no other gods before him. We must also realize that no matter what;”that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”-Philippians 2:10-12aWill you bow now or must you be forced. This is based on 1 Samuel 5:1-7 and what the Lord has laid in my spirit to put to paper in hopes of helping the body.

1Samuel 5:1-7 And the Philistines took the ark of God and brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod.2 when the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.3 and when they of Ashdod arouse early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the Lord. And they took Dagon and set him in his place again. 4and when they arouse early on the morrow morning, behold Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord; and head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold, only the stump of Dagon was left to him. 5 Therefore neither priest of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon’s house tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day.

I will stop here and give you a little background on the god Dagon of the Philistines.

Ashdod means stronghold and it was one of the five cities of the Philistines. The city was famous because the god of the Philistines temple was here. This god Dagon house was the house of fish for he was part fish and part man.The body of Dagon was a fish and the upper extremities were human. When the priest returned in the morning only the stump, fishy part was left.

We notice that even in our daily going to and fro we like to do what we want when we want. We never even think that everything we do is only done because of a Higher Power allowing it. We love our cars, money, relationships and ourselves more than the creator. These things are mere idols and as Dagon they will fall for they are merely heathen worship. Isaiah 42:8 says it the best I am the Lord that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

When the priest saw this fear filled their hearts and they were very afraid. Is not this what happens to us at the first sign of trouble? Our car breaks down, we are in an accident, a relationship breaks or up we didn’t get the raise. Oh woe is me! Every Knee must bow! The car can be replaced, new relationships, get another job all graven images fall apart. God is the same Today Yesterday and Forever!

We as humans both then and now must realize that God is above all and in all. Glory to His name! Will we bow now or be forced too our knees later.

God also tells us in the 10 commandments that we are not to kill, yet we run the biggest slaughterhouses in the world.
