Do you have HIS GPS System? Part 1

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Recently I was talking to a student at our Christian Living Bible Institute’s seminary (www.ChristianLivingBibleInstitute.org). He doesn’t live too far from me was thinking of driving down to meet but his GPS device had been stolen, and he thought he might get lost. When he called me and told me about this. We started thinking about GPS systems. I told him how I used to use a GPS system all the time and I loved it. I used when I was going to sales calls when I worked for a marketing company. GPS stands for global positioning system. You simply input the address of your destination and it gives you turn by turn directions. We started to think about GPS devices and realized that all Christians have a GPS built in. But why is it that so many Christians lose their way? Do they lose their GPS system? Does someone steal their GPS system? What I am talking about here is not a Global Positioning System but rather God’s Positioning System.

Let’s look at a person in the Bible that I hope you are all familiar with, Moses. We can even discuss his parents who never lost their GPS system. We can begin by reading Hebrews 11:23-29

By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s edict. 24 By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25 choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26 considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward. 27 By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing Him who is unseen. 28 By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, so that he who destroyed the firstborn would not touch them. 29 By faith they passed through the Red Sea as though they were passing through dry land; and the Egyptians, when they attempted it, were drowned. NASU

Think about what Moses’ parents did. Could you do that? I know that it would be extremely difficult for me to do something like that. Now look at Moses. Imagine you were born into a very rich family, could you give up the life of luxury only to be scorned by the same people that he would eventually free? Moses never lost his GPS system. He refused to let someone steal it. Now I know what you are saying, God never spoke to you through a burning bush, but God does speak to us every day when we are in prayer, meditation and when reading and studying His Word.

I believe that if you live here in the United States and that we are all blessed. Unfortunately too many of us are wasting our blessings. I too wasted many of God’s blessings when I was not strong in my faith. The awesome thing about God is that when we fail Him, He is there to forgive and forget our transgressions. Are you ready to live the life that God has planned for you? Are you willing to do what is needed to live a life of Abundance? Read Deuteronomy chapter 8 and look at chapter 18

But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. NASU

Every Christian has the power of the Holy Spirit in us. That same power that raised Christ from the dead is alive in each and every one of us. We can grow that power each and every day as we strive to be more like Christ. Let’s look at what Moses did

First he settled four very important issues. (Hebrews 11:23 – 29)
1. His Identity. Who was he? He settled that in verse 24
2. His Responsibility. What was he going to do with his Life? He settled that in verse 25
3. His Priority. What was the most important thing in his life? He settled that in verse 26
4. His Difficulty. How much was Moses willing to commit? He settled that in verses 27 – 29

We all have to deal with these four things and we all have choices that must be made. Before my next message, I would like you to think, pray and meditate on Your Identity, Your Responsibility, Your Priorities and Your Difficulties.

In the next message we will discuss the five things all Christians must do in order to live our lives the way God wants us to live. In the mean time don’t lose your GPS system and don’t let anyone take your God Positioning system from you. You can’t live without it!

Let me know your thoughts

Yours in Christ.

Pastor Bob

PS
For those reading this who are not Christians or not sure of their faith. Say this little prayer, right now out loud; Dear Heavenly Father, I know I am a sinner and am not worthy in your eyes. I accept your Son Jesus Christ as my personal savior and I ask that you take control of my life. Amen. If you have just said that prayer, I want you to send me an email at NewtoChrist@ChristianLivingMinistry.org

thank you for your words. we sometimes make everything difficult.when we read Gods word we should try to keep it simple. God is Love. God loves us. Gods plans are good. God wants the best for us. B.I.B.L.E = basic instructions before leaving earth.
